With support from the National Science Foundation, the International
Network of Research on Coupled Human and Natural Systems (CHANS-Net.org)
offers CHANS Fellowships each year.

CHANS-Net is pleased to call for applications for CHANS Fellowships in
2013. The selected CHANS Fellows will present or give poster presentations
at the Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of
America<http://e2.ma/click/0uurf/wjj0k/0mso9b>,
Aug. 4-9, 2013, in Minneapolis, Minn. They also will have opportunities to
interact with prominent scientists to learn the latest research
developments and build professional networks.

Approximately 10 fellowships (up to $1,000 each) are awarded to the
selected graduate students, postdoctoral associates, junior faculty members
and/or other junior researchers at other institutions around the world to
defray expenses associated with attending the meeting. Applications are
judged on the merit of the applicants' abstracts, financial need, and
professional backgrounds and goals. Members of under-represented groups are
especially encouraged to apply.

Applicants must be CHANS-Net members to apply for a CHANS Fellowship. To
join CHANS-Net <http://e2.ma/click/0uurf/wjj0k/gfto9b>, simply click on the
“Join Today” link on the upper right corner of the
homepage<http://e2.ma/click/0uurf/wjj0k/w7to9b>
.

There is no fee to join or participate.

   3. Resume/CV (txt, rtf, doc, docx, pdf for upload)
   4. Abstract for the ESA 2013 Annual
Meeting<http://e2.ma/click/0uurf/wjj0k/c0uo9b>-- please include title
and full list of authors along with the abstract
that follows the instructions of ESA
   5. Indication of supervisor's endorsement (supervisor’s name and contact
   details)

Note that special consideration will be given to presentations related to
the meeting theme (“Sustainable Pathways: Learning From the Past and
Shaping the Future”) AND to telecoupling
<http://e2.ma/click/0uurf/wjj0k/ssvo9b> (environmental and socioeconomic
interactions over distances, such as trade, water transfer, human and
animal migration, species invasion, disease spread, tourism, and so on).
Topics may include causes and effects of telecouplings on socioeconomic and
ecological sustainability of CHANS and implications for management and
policy.

Applicants must have discussed the application with their supervisors
