Dear Colleagues,

The brand new Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University is inviting applications for four positions this coming academic year (http://www.bu.edu/pardeeschool/2014/08/12/pardee-school-faculty-search). Please pass on this information to anyone who you think would be a good fit for any these positions.

Two of these positions are of most direct relevance to the gep-ed list -- one is at the level of assistant professor while the other is a professor of the practice position. You can contact me directly if you have any questions about either of these two positions ([email protected]).

First, we seek applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in the area of Latin American development, pending Provost approval. We have a strong preference for a scholar who specializes in South America, particularly Brazil, with a focus on environment, public health, and/or human development. We welcome applications from all relevant disciplines, including environmental studies, development studies, political science, sociology, anthropology, history, public health, and international affairs. Second, we invite applications for appointment as professor of the practice of diplomacy, pending Provost approval. The successful candidate will be a distinguished practitioner with a career in diplomacy either as a foreign service professional or as an international civil servant. Career diplomats with ambassadorial experience and practitioners with equivalent experience and stature, including at international organizations, are encouraged to apply. We are open as to functional and regional expertise and to academic and professional training in all relevant disciplines including international relations, international law, international economics, and international politics. This is not an environment-specific position, but we welcome applications from people who have been working on environment and human development related issues in their professional careers -- if you know someone like that who might want to switch to a teaching position, please pass on this announcement!
