Dear colleagues, I would like to draw your attention to a very exciting forthcoming postdoctoral fellowship opportunity in Ireland.
The Irish Research Council <http://research.ie/> (IRC) has an open call for the IRC Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions COFUND Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme entitled *CAROLINE—“Collaborative Research Fellowships for a Responsive and Innovative Europe”* <http://www.research.ie/funding/caroline> . CAROLINE is aimed at postdoctoral researchers from any discipline wishing to conduct research relevant to the themes of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for shared economic prosperity, social development, and environmental protection. A key feature of the programme is collaboration between the academic sector and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and international organizations (IOs). There are two types of fellowship. *“International fellowships”* (3 years) will involve spending the first two years based at an NGO or IO outside of Ireland, with the third year spent at an Irish higher education institution. *“Irish fellowships”* (2 years) will involve spending 6-12 months at an Irish-based NGO or IO, with the rest of the two years spent at an Irish higher education institution. 50 fellowships in total will be awarded across all disciplines, 25 in this call and 25 in a second call in mid-2017. These fellowships come with excellent salaries and benefits. See the CAROLINE website <http://www.research.ie/funding/caroline> for further details. I am keen to support high quality applications for this scheme here at Dublin City University, which is consistently rated in the “Top 50 under 50” by the QS World University Rankings. My research interests include global and comparative environmental politics. Several of my colleagues in DCU’s School of Law and Government specialise in environmental law and development studies, and DCU’s School of Communications has a particular strength in environmental communications. DCU’s research support team can also help with preparation of applications. The deadline for applications for the current call is *30 November*. The outcome will be communicated in April 2017, with fellowships to commence on *1 October 2017*. There will be a second call in mid-2017. Please note that *you must have defended your PhD by the application deadline (30 November)* in order to be eligible to apply. Please feel free to get in touch if you are interested in applying or would like to discuss further. Please also circulate this note to anyone in your academic and non-academic networks who might be interested in applying to this scheme.
