Job Description:
The Department of Political Science at the University of Denver invites 
applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship to start in Fall 2018 
in the field of Comparative or International
Political Economy. We are most interested in candidates with research expertise 
in environmental politics and policy or regional expertise in Latin America, 
the Middle East, or South Asia. The
position requires teaching the equivalent of two courses per quarter (three 
quarters per year) in the Political Science department, covering a range of 
upper division comparative/international
politics courses, introductory courses, and other university requirements. The 
University of Denver embraces a scholar-teacher model where faculty balance 
their commitment to rigorous research with
undergraduate education. We welcome the incorporation of experiential learning 
opportunities in the curriculum such as internships, simulations, or service 
learning. The person holding this
position would also be expected to contribute to University and departmental 
service.

The Department of Political Science is an undergraduate-only department with 
faculty actively engaged in research and teaching students primarily in the 
context of small classes with intensive
writing assignments and close interaction. We aim to develop students' capacity 
to think and engage the world constructively long after graduation. We 
currently have nine full-time faculty members
with emphases in American politics, comparative and international politics,

Essential Functions
-Teach the equivalent of six courses across three quarters per academic year.
-Pursue a fruitful research agenda that results in high quality scholarly 
publications.
-Advise students.
-Contribute to University and departmental service.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-Expertise in CPE/IPE, ideally combined with one of the following 
sub-specialties: environmental politics and policy or Latin America, the Middle 
East, or South Asia.

Required Qualifications
-ABD or Ph.D. in Political Science or related Social Science field (e.g. 
international affairs/relations, institutional economics, sociology). A 
candidate hired at the ABD level would hold the
title of Instructor until completion of Ph.D.
-Experience teaching undergraduate courses in political (or related social) 
science.
-Experience interacting with diverse communities or evidence of a commitment to 
incorporate inclusive teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage 
broadly diverse student populations.

-Ph.D. in Political Science or related Social Science.
