Assistant Professor in Environmental Policy, Tenure-Track



Department of Social Sciences Michigan Technological University



The Department of Social Sciences at Michigan Technological University invites 
applications for an Assistant Professor in Environmental Policy to join an 
interdisciplinary social sciences faculty.



Possible research interests include climate policy, energy policy, 
environmental policy, environmental health policy, or natural resource policy.  
Candidates with strengths in international policy and spatial approaches, 
including GIS, are especially encouraged to apply.



The teaching load is normally two courses per academic semester. Successful 
candidates should be prepared to teach a graduate-level environmental policy 
analysis course (e.g., cost-benefit analysis, environmental risk assessment), a 
large general education undergraduate course (e.g.,Global Issues), and courses 
in their own specialty. Applicants should also demonstrate how their research 
and teaching interests strengthen our graduate programs (MS and PhD) in 
Environmental & Energy Policy and aligns with the focus of one or more of 
Michigan Tech's research centers or institutes. Possible contributions to the 
graduate programs in Industrial Heritage and Archaeology would also be welcomed.



A Ph.D. in Public Affairs, Public Management, Public Policy, or a related 
interdisciplinary field is required by August 15, 2018. The successful 
candidate will demonstrate a strong research record and agenda, as well as high 
potential for securing external funding. Teaching experience is strongly 
preferred. Professional experience in the public sector is considered an asset.
