The Institute for Environmental Sciences (ISE) at the University of
Geneva, Switzerland, is accepting candidacies for a 70% Research and
Teaching Fellow position (maître assistant) to start on September 1,
2018. The posting is aimed at young researchers who have obtained a PhD
in law (or a degree deemed equivalent) and have acquired solid knowledge
and expertise in the area of energy law and its environmental, political
and social dimensions. The position is attached to the Hub for
Environmental Governance and Territorial Development (GEDT). The GEDT
Hub is composed of 14 professors and about 50 researchers from different
disciplines and diverse backgrounds, who conduct research on
environmental governance, sustainability and territorial development.
The GEDT Hub promotes close scientific and pedagogical collaborations in
an inter- and transdisciplinary perspective with the ISE's three other
hubs - natural and physical sciences, economics and management,
environmental informatics - on five transversal themes: water, climate,
biodiversity, energy regions and cities.

Major research themes to be addressed by the successful candidate may
include: Regulation of energy in international environmental law; the
role of international institutions in the regulation of the energy
sector and its impact on the protection of the global environment;
international legal rules concerning foreign investment and trade in
energy and the relationship between those rules and international
environmental law; effects of energy activities on human rights and the
environment; the link between energy law and climate change law; the
role of energy in Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, in
particular the legal framework applicable to renewable energy. French
language competences are required for teaching responsibilities.
