Dear Miranda, Wageningen University and Research has been using the Green Impact program to let smaller working groups (in our case divided per campus building) think of ways/measures to green the building and the university. And facility services is leading this. They among others organize monthly lunch meetings to share experiences, with each meeting having a specific theme (mobility, catering, energy use etc).
Happy to share more if you are interested! Workshop lunches, institute parties, department dinners: all must be vegetarian and are often vegan. This policy cuts across the university. In addition, our institute has agreed on a train zone around Utrecht. Within this zone you are not allowed to fly for work-related events. For example, from Utrecht to Munich you must take the train; same for London, Paris, Berlin, etc. You‘ll take the train to England and Denmark, but you may fly – if absolutely needed - to Scotland or Finland. The institute compensates higher costs for train tickets. These are some of the bigger items. We have various initiatives to work towards more ambitious action at university level. I will be happy to collect and send around ideas. Thanks!
