Dear colleagues,

I hope you are well (and sorry for cross-posting).

I wanted to share that in my upcoming new position as Associate Professor and
Head of the Sustainability Research Group at the University of Basel (starting
June 1), I am recruiting for a postdoc, and hoping that you could forward this
message to any candidates in your networks that might be interested.

It's a 2+4 year, 75% position in the governance of sustainable agri-food
systems, focusing on the implementation of mandatory sustainability legislation
(e.g. EU Deforestation Regulation) in tropical agri-food commodity chains.
There are some teaching expectations, but in small class/seminar settings, and
a lot of room to lead cutting-edge, innovative work in the realm of
sustainability governance. I also have a budget for fieldwork in producing
country contexts (e.g. Colombia, Côte d'Ivoire) and hope to collaborate closely
with the successful candidate on such research. I am also committed to provide
strong mentorship in preparing for the next career steps. Swiss postdoc
salaries are generally above-average in international comparison, and increase
with years on the job; in this case, the candidate would start at around 62'000
CHF/year for the 75% position, with possibilities of supplementing the
remaining 25% via project funding or teaching. Please see the full job ad and
application modalities here:
https://www.unibas.ch/de/Arbeiten-an-der-Universitaet-Basel/Offene-Stellen.html
(position: Postdoc position in Sustainability Research Group); we are starting
evaluations in May, with ideal start date in August 2024 (though this is
subject to negotiation). Feel free to direct open questions to
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>.

Many thanks for sharing widely!

Best,

Janina
