Dear Colleagues,

Please join us for the next session of the Environmental Politics and
Governance Network's "Climate Policy Roundtable" on Thursday, October 30th
at 12pm EST.

The topic for the next conversation is: "*The Politics of Abundance"*

*You will need to register in advance here *
https://brown.zoom.us/meeting/register/wnUh_DftRpa6EyJutSdReA in order to
receive the Zoom link.

We plan to discuss the following questions:

   - *Abundance* aims to provide a lens on the politics of "chosen
scarcity." Does it get the diagnosis right? Is America overregulated and
insufficiently innovative? To what extent is this a barrier to the
transition to a clean energy economy?
   - Klein and Thompson reject the ideas of degrowth and fail to discuss
wealth redistribution. Do you agree with their analysis?
   - What political conditions would be necessary to implement an
*Abundance *agenda? In what ways could this agenda respond to right
   wing populism?
   - Klein and Thompson view the environmental movement as both a
correction and an overcorrection (216). Does the environmental movement
need to reexamine its strategy in light of this analysis?

We hope that you will be able to attend.
