Hi list-
I posted originally with my inquiries about the adoption practices of
animal shelters and I thought I'd share the latest development. First I
received the rather impolite initial rejection email I received in response
to my simple questions about requirements and if there were any guinea pigs
available, which prompted me to mail the list on the subject. I then
responded with a polite but firm statement expressing understanding for
their reluctance to adopt out to students, and several reasons why I felt I
did not fall into their typical "student" category. Just yesterday I
received a much nicer email from the shelter manager, apologizing for the
outright rejection and inviting me to come in for an adoption interview and
to fill out an application. He said providing bills or recent mail with my
current address would substitute for not having a MA drivers license. I
just thought I'd share in case other people encounter similar circumstances
later on. Thanks for all of your input!
Jill
