An apology and a peace offering:

Yesterday I replied in GML to an off-topic message asking for kitty help.
1) It seems to me there are a lot of other GMLers owned by cats; and 2)
That was really a big problem as all of you know who have known a cat who
stopped using her litter box.

To make it up to you, please check out
http://www.lifeminders.com/learn_more/index.asp
where you can sign up for various free newsletters that come occasionally,
and all of which reflect your personal profile.

For example, the Pet Lifeminder for me gives me cat, gerbil and goldfish
info -- but none for dogs, horses, etc. So far I don't remember a
gerbils article, but when I signed up I gave them Gloria's name, species
and birthday. (Can you believe I did that?) I'm not rating their
material for quality or uniqueness, but it's entertaining.

How to Chat with Your Cat
You may think your cat is far too aloof to respond when you
call, but think again. With a little training, you can teach your cat to
carry on a conversation with you.

Is Your Pet Allergic to You?
Thirty percent of all pets have allergies. Sometimes they're
allergic to pollen and molds, just like many of us. They can get contact
dermatitis from anything that might irritate their skin. Flea bites are
certainly annoying to any dog, but dogs who are allergic to flea bites can
leave nasty "hot spots" from scratching and biting to relieve the itch.
Take heart! You can learn to recognize allergies and treat them.

            PET CARE

Toys that Will Make Your Cat Frisky (Training and Behavior)
Half the fun of having a cat is all the cool toys you can get
your pet. From the cat's point of view, some toys are more fun than
others. Toys with erratic movements remind your cat of wild prey while
other kinds of toys encourage your cat to do one of the more fun cat
things: pounce. Here are a few ideas about what kinds of toys your cat
might like and why.

Cat Bathing as a Martial Art (Grooming)
Cats usually clean themselves, but occasionally owners have to
intervene. And given cats' dislike of water, the first hint of bathtime
may lead your sweet, little kitty to pull a Jackie Chan on your fleshy
parts. If Jackie's opponents knew enough to attack him all at once instead
of taking defeat one by one, they may have fared better. Such strategies
can help you own the bath experience...or at least survive it.

Does Your Pet Need Weight Watchers? (Health)
If your New Year's resolution was to shed a few pounds, you
may want to get your dog and cat in on the dieting. One in three pet cats
and dogs are overweight. Here's how to tell if your pet needs to slim down
and how to shed that extra fluff.
