If you go with this glue tooth picks on or they won't be able to get up. Trust me. Habitrail and Sam's tubes are easily chewed unless your gerbils don't chew alot. If you use broom sticks to hold it up Change the broom sticks when gerbils start to chew on them alot and don't use ones with paint. I would recommend the cardboard boxes for those reasons. There isn't much of a need for steps since gerbils can jump really high. Trust me. My Bailey got out a few times like that.
