Question regarding new Mom

Thanks to everyone who helped me with the pregnancy question before.

My female Agouti just had a litter of four pups in the middle of the
night, and I was wondering if the female is supposed to be so rough with
her babies.  She pushes them around (sometimes they go flying!)  I'm
concerned, will they be hurt??  This is her first litter, and my first
pair of gerbils.
