Just an update, some of you will remember me mentioning
Elita, my little sapphire girl who was being bullied by her
cagemate. Lily was so mean to her, she was really
stressed. Her fur got dull and scraggly-looking and her
poor little nose was absolutely raw. Well she has been in
her very own tank for a week or two now (I've lost track of
time) and is much much better. Her fur looks normal and her
nose is healing. She acts happier too. I'm not so sure
Lily is happy but I don't see that I had a choice. If Elita
had once stood up for herself it would have turned violent.
And I doubt Lily's behavior would be any different if I put
her with a different female. At any rate I'm not going to
risk it. I'm working on getting more toys instead. She has
to share a wheel and only has it every other day, but I have
one ordered that should be here soon. She also has a sand
bowl, a wood half-log, and a chewed-on piece of
Habitral-type plastic tube. I'm trying to think what else I
can do for her and the other singles I have (I have some
that have rejected 3 attempts to pair them up!). I need to
go look at g's page. :)

BTW Lily is 2 years old this month I wonder if that has
anything to do with it? Elita is 11 months old. She
certainly wasn't trying to be dominant, though, all I ever
saw was her being very submissive. But perhaps Lily felt
threatened anyway? Or is she just getting grouchy perhaps?
