Hello everyone.

Thank you to all those that responded and will be remembering my niece in
prayers.

I received an update on her this afternoon. She had a biopsy this morning
and it showed that it is cancer again. It is intertwined in her spine. In
the morning she will be having surgery to remove as much of the tumor as
possible. He chances are not good at this time. She isn't eating, drinking
or going to the bathroom on her own.

She was born with several intestinal defects that required surgery. The best
way for me to sum that up, is her organs were not in the right places and
the doctors had to do surgery to reposition everything in her belly. Her
diaphram was too high and caused her to have difficulties with breathing.
That left her with permanent breathing difficulties similar to asthma. Other
than the 'asthma, she recovered fully from those surgeries in her first year
of life.

(The doctors do not believe her infant problems had anything to do with the
current cancer.)

Then shortly after Thanksgiving 1998, she became very ill. On her fourth
birthday, 12-15-98, it was discovered that she had a soft ball sized tumor
on her left kidney. (Whilm's tumor). She spent Christmas in the hospital and
New Years. The doctors were trying to shrink the tumor before removing it.
Then during Easter 1999, the tumor was removed. She underwent chemotherapy
up until last August. Cat scans didn't show any signs of cancer anymore and
she was starting to feel better including putting on weight and having her
hair grow back.

About 3 weeks ago, she seemed to not feel good again. She was loosing her
appetite and just didn't seem herself.

I hope people don't mind me sharing this on the GML. I have been in shocked
all day and just don't know what to right now.

Thanks for all the prayers,, she really needs them.

Ann-Marie
