It's my understanding from what I've read and previous list discussions
that gerbils haven't been found to contract viruses. That's not to say that
they can't, but it just hasn't been seen yet. If it's a bacterial
respiratory illness, the antibiotic should help, and it seems that it may
be. I'll watch her over the next few days and see if she continues to
improve. Since she's not in any distress or showing any other symptoms I'm
not going to panic yet. Thanks for the responses!
