Hi all. I was in PetSmart today, and I saw the cutest thing. It was a wheel for hamsters and gerbils, with a digital odometer attached at the base of the wheel. It would start out measuring the distance run in feet, then convert to miles. It was called the "Hamster Workout Wheel." (Original name, huh?) It cost twelve dollars. But I didn't buy it, for several reasons. First, it was very tall, and I believe the top part of the wheel would come very close to touching the top of a standard tank. Second, it was made of a relatively soft plastic which gerbils could easily demolish. Third, while it was relatively safe in that it had no rungs, there was no back on the wheel, and the actual "runway" was very narrow, leading me to believe that a gerbil would continually slip out of the wheel while running.
