The pronunciation key on Webster's website does not have the short "er"
sound in it. This is pretty vital for English pronunciation. For
example, I can't pronounce your name without it! Obviously Americans get
away without it!

Webster's says Agouti is pronounced Ah-Goo-Tee.


So the answer to the original question appears to be - It depends which
English language you speak!
