I believe they start their molt at 8 weeks of age and also start to develop
ticking. (If this is what their color does)

I am not sure how long they molt for.

I have a lilac female, Giggles who seems to be constantly molting. She is
now about 8 months old. She looks like she is marbled. She has dark gray
areas of fur, along with light area's of fur.
