Esther is a very responsible person who has always had up-to-date
versions of either Norton Antivirus or McAfee Antivirus on her
computers. Until this incident she had no idea because her new computer
came with McAfee, it was incapable of discovering this worm even when
up-to-date.

She is deeply hurt by your claim that she is either doesn't care, or is
too ignorant to do anything about this problem. Clearly she has taken
reasonable precautions and once she knew there was a problem she solved
it straight away.

Maybe you could have discussed with her how to sort out this problem
instead of accusing her of irresponsibility in a public forum.

I know this message should have been sent privately, but I think this is
example of where we should be trying to help one another, and not blame
one another.

Another thing is that if everyone stuck to plain text postings instead
of sending those awful HTML post that Outlook creates, this would not be
a problem. A plain text e-mail cannot contain a virus or worm.

Can someone who knows Outlook and Outlook Express please send detailed
instruction to everyone on how to set their software to only send plain
text. I know this has been done before but there are a lot of people,
including Esther and Whitney, who sometimes send HTML messages.
