HI Tracy,
  Well, mine used to do the same thing.  When did you put this "sail boat
house" thing in there tank?  They may need time to get used to it.  Mine
have had their house in and out of their cage (cause of newborns) and they
used to just think it was just something to chew on and go in and out of.  6
months later, they all were sleeping in there!!!  It was very weird.  Is
your "sail boat house" like a normal gerbil house?  Does it have a roof?
Tell me more about it.
