I NEVER let my gerbils run around on the floor, for this very reason. When I want
them to
get some exercise I let them run on the couch or bed, supervised, or on a chair with
me while
I read. Sometimes I stop up the bathtub, make sure it's clean and dry, put some toys
in, and
let them run in there.
