Hi. I have a question about bad pet stores. I stopped by one today to check
out what animals they had. I have never had problems with this place before.
I went to look at the gerbils, and I was shocked at what I saw. There were 1
0 gerbils of different genders in one 10 gallon tank. They had no food and a
water bottle that was too high to reach. 3 younger looking gerbils were
lethargic and very skinny. The rest were very bony, had poor coats, and some
runny eyes. Many had bites and bloody spots on their body's and parts of
their coats missing. I felt terrible! All could have been beautiful (mostly
blacks, two lilacs) and friendly gerbils. I complained to the manager, and
hope to see this problem resolve. My question is, if nothing else happens,
what other steps can I take to help the poor gerbils?
