This whole thing started because the books most highly recommended by the
knowledgeable gerbil gurus on the list were said to be too difficult to
obtain if one were in the UK. I thought that was strange, because I had
used the info on (possibly Julian's?) page to order these books from a UK
company.
I was assuming that amazon.com.uk didn't have them, because amazon.com's US
site doesn't, and that that was why David didn't have info on obtaining
them. Then it turned out that amazon.com.uk did in fact carry them, but
David felt that 3 to 5 weeks was too long to wait for a book. No problem,
his opinion, that's fine.
I am not sure how we got off into these other areas, but my initial
assumption was that the reason David wasn't carrying the best books was
that he wasn't making money from them. Then it turns out he can in fact get
them through amazon.com, so I still don't understand why he doesn't give
ordering info about the Dutch book and Gerbils & Jirds, but it's his web
site that's fine he can do what he wants.
Incidentally, I have been online since 1983, and until 2 years ago owned my
own company and worked as a networking consultant for small businesses. I
sold said company and went back to school, because I want to be a vet, so I
do know a bit about making money as an "associate" on the web, and realize
that it's not a goldmine unless you have a sex site. I just feel that
honesty is still called for, even though we're in a new millennium now. I
don't begrudge David any money he makes from his site, as long as he's open
and aboveboard about it.
Peace,
Rebecca...
