...that's interesting!....I woudl have never thought of that....
I see nothing wrong with a pine cone as a play toy....although I'm sure the
sap could get rather messy for both cage-cleaner and especially gerbil.....
My recommendation to you would be to let the cone dry out (set it out in the
sun for a day or two to let the sap harden)..perhaps pick cones with as
little sap as possible.... so as to minimize the contact between sap and
gerbil....
A pinecone is just wood and shoudln't hurt the gerbil....in fact, many
squirrels like to eat pine nuts....and some humans, do too!....perhaps
gerbils might enjoy the challenge of acquiring a pine nut, too :o)
Anybody else have any thoughts on the matter?
