memory for human scent?

My daughter's gerbil Blossom is coming home after visiting in another
household for a few weeks.  My question is:

Will she remember us/our scent?  Or do we need to re-introduce ourselves
to her at a gradual pace?

I am asking this because gerbils forget their mate/partner so quickly
(in only a day or two) and I was wondering if the same was true for
forgetting human pals.  And if so...

Is it important that you get your hands into the gerbil tank everyday to
maintain that bond?
