Can anyone who has had gerbils for a long time explain something for me?
I have a litter of 5 gerbils, and they are all active and stick together
except one. He hides in the tubes and barely comes down all day. Why
would he isolate himself like that? Why doesn't he want to play or sleep
with the other gerbils? When I put him back in the cage with the others,
he gets water and eats then gets back in the tube. He isn't aggresive
towards the other gerbils or me.... Any answers or suggestions?

If they are full grown, it might mean that he will soon be driven away.
For safety observe closely, you might have to remove him with a
companion.
