In response to this question...
I've heard that having two female adults raising a litter does not work out too
well. But have never tried it myself. On my current litter I did have older
brother and sister (last litter) help mom raise the new litter. It has worked
out wonderfully. It is amazing to see the older sibblings sit on the young ones
and groom them and those time when the entire family makes a giant gerbil pile;
a great example of extended family and community (something we humans could
learn from).
Anyways any chance that you could place sister and pup and leave an older pup
with mom? That might go more smoothly. Donna A.
