I'm not sure of an easy way to tell if your gerbil is pregnant or not, just
keep an eye on her and if she continues to get plump, she probably is
pregnant.
Even though the male is not the real father, he will take care of them as if
they were alone. Along time ago, I had decided to switch males and use a
different for breeding. It worked fine, the new male helped to take care of
the babies.
