No, that is not the case.  These mites or whatever you want to call them
were hatching by hundreds while I was petting her.  There are so many of
them that they suck out all of the blood, that is the weight that the
gerbils use.  It only happened in 24 hours.  There is no way that these
things actually are in all cages.  They get there some how and then they
kill.  It is a scary thing to see.
