I think the first step should be spending some time on the internet doing
research on gerbil color genetics. Once you become familiar with the
possible genes that your gerbil has,, then it is easier to determine the
possible pup colors that they can produce. Sometimes when you want a certain
color,, the parents don't necessarily have to be that color but they could
be capable of producing what you want.
