It sounds to me like the colors are correct, the variation could be due to
the Sp or not completely molting into their color yet. Don't discount that
the male is eef even though you bred him to an efef gerbil, I had a pair
nutmeg with p to a agouti with a, p and e and they only produce 1 agouti
gerbil after a year of breeding the odds on genetics are very interesting
(odds are it won't be in your favor for what you want, thats how it is for
me).
