Cleaning - a gerbil newbie

Hi all
I recently aquired a same sex pair of gerbils, about 10-11 weeks old.
I've been reading everything I can get my hands on about them, including
following the discussions here.
However, I have one question I can't find an answer to:
Everything says dishes and water bottles should be cleaned with a "pet
safe" disinfectant. What would this be? (suggestions incl. brand names
would be appreciated)
