Hi Julian,
I like the sound of these terms. Another set of terms to consider would be
socks and stockings, from the equine persuasion. Socks generally cover the
toe and ankle area of the foot, while stockings would continue further up
the leg.
I have been using two other equine terms when speaking of my breeding line.
I prefer the use of dame for the matriarch and sire for the patriarch. Even
though the babies are called pups I'm not thrilled with the use of the adult
canine terminology.
