I might have been interested in your stories. In which case I would have
liked to see them here. My complaint has never been about the mix of
posts here. Only that we need a better way of identifying posts that I
can usefully respond to.
-->You MIGHT have been interested. YOUR complaint may never have been about
the mix of posts. I'm more concerned about the GENERAL response to such
things. I've seen innocent posts get turned into a burning controversy. I
don't wish to see my inbox cluttered with things like, "You shouldn't post
that here!" or "That post was too long and had no real informational
content." That's the kind of thing that would more than likely happen right
now if I were to post any stories to the GML. I'd rather post things of
that nature in an environment where it will be happily accepted. Right now,
that environment does NOT exist on the GML.<--
If people cannot post observations concerning their gerbils the GML has
lost something.
-->People CAN post them here. Many no longer WANT to, simply because it
leads to too many complaints by too many people. Too many people are
getting upset over posts that have nothing but "cutesy" value or a neat
little observation and the story behind it. The discussion over two
separate lists has little to do with the welfare of gerbils, and I'm sure
that's irritating a great many people. The story of how one of my gerbils
finally starting begging to be picked up and petted would more than likely
either be ignored and deleted, read and reprimanded, or commented on by a
few that liked it. I don't want my stories ignored and I don't want to read
complaints about it. I know my gerbil's actions have nothing to do with
gerbil welfare. I don't care. It was a touching moment and I wanted to
share it; I did so...on a forum that would accept it at the time.<--
