Julian-
The SGML doesn't have to split up our great list. I still think that we
could coexist; the GML and the SGML can, in fact, both be up and working.
We should all just subscribe to the list (or lists) that we want.
There does not have to be a split.

Gary has a way of viewing the SGML archives.

I am not sure I see why there needs to be more than one charter/FAQ etc.
If the lists are meant to be complementary, so should the charters/FAQs
etc. As far as I can see, only the proposed content is different. That
is one line in the GML charter.
If the charters etc are not very similar in format as well as content,
it will be very confusing sorting out what is appropriate in each group.
That is why I thin n adjustment to the GML charter/FAQ to incorporate
the SGML would be far preferable to a totally different charter/FAQ.
I proposed from the start that the first step to the SGML is to propose
how the GML charter should be changed to accommodate it. Unfortunately
this helpful proposal has been ignored.

Our links with Rice are very limited. We are a bit like the student who
hasn't signed up for any courses but who sits at the back of the lecture
theatre taking notes.
