You can find out about the different species at: http://www.gerbils.co.uk/other.htm You could not breed a gerbil of a different species. About 99.99% of all the gerbils in captivity are Mongolian Gerbils. Other species are more likely to be kept by specialist breeders. The shape of gerbil's heads can vary a little bit. Some have more pointed faces etc. u it is unusual for the difference to be very great. Is there any way of getting a picture of this gerbil on the web? Please do not post any pictures to this mailing list. -- Julian ************************************************************************ * Jackie and Julian * * [EMAIL PROTECTED] * * National Gerbil Society * * http://www.gerbils.co.uk/ * ************************************************************************
