Hi Deb:
I can confirm this situation.
In Sept/97, I asked my local M.P. [who just happens to be the federal Agriculture
Minister] about importing Chinchillas into Canada.
He referred my query to the Chief Veterinarian of Agri-Food Canada [formerly the Dept
of Agriculture]. The Chief Vet [I don't remember his name off hand] phoned my
personally and followed up with a letter, stating that, as of January, 1997, all
restrictions regarding the importation of rodents into Canada have been lifted.
