My three choices here are:

Me
Me and ask the nearby vet for the medications I think
I need, treatment is done by myself.
Put animal in car and make a long drive to the clinic
seen on 'Emergency Vets' and get very broke. (I am
in driving distance of that one, it's about two hours IF
traffic is with me once I hit Denver).

There is one respondent on the forum here that does
wildlife rescue; and seems knowledgable about some
of the more exotics...which is what gerbils seem to
fall into.

I have also heard that someone took their gerbil to a
wildlife rescue specializing vet (here on the forum).

My suggestion is call around, and be very specific about
why you're calling. A vet should be honest about if they
have the skill to treat your gerbil or not. (the one up the
street here does not know much about gerbils, but was
honest. He helps me out under a breeder/trainer
professional courtesy type relationship).
