The only problem with the whole setup is that eliminates anyone that has had
rodents before that lost them due to age or other. The people that buy
rodents for food will usually also have an empty cage and food so you take a
chance. I have heard many stories of gerbils injuring snakes some of which
lead to the snakes death, years ago in high school the pet store I worked at
would not sell gerbils at a feeder price and told the person if they bought a
gerbil for a feeder the store was not responsible for anything that happened.
This came about because of a gerbil that chewed on a guys snake.
