Hi!
Just a few comments about Amy C.'s bulletin board idea.
1) When I first joined the list, I did not have reliable Internet access.
There may be others on this list who have the same problem. Thus,
eliminating the e-mail list could potentially prohibit access to some gerbil
keepers.
2) If the "GML Bulletin Board" gets as many messages a day as this list has,
messages would move down the board so fast that many important messages
could get ignored. Although occassional messages get looked over on the
current format, this is usually due to bad formatting on the author's part
and does not occur very often. My experiences with popular BB's is that
many, many messages are essentially ignored due to the fast pace of the
board.
3) Furthermore, if the board is too public, trolls show up more often.
4) Finally, such a board already exists. Thanks to www.gerbil.org, there is
an online gerbil community with wonderful boards seperated by topics and
moderated. You must be signed up with www.gerbils.org, which prevents most
trolling.
Hopefully, Amy C. doesn't take this as a flame as it is only meant to be my
response to her well-thought out message.
Deb Adams
