I'm not too sure what mites can do to dogs, but I know humans can also
get them. Keep the vet updated, keep your dog and gerbils seperated, and
ALWAYS wash your hands after handling the gerbils. In the meantime, you
can give your dog a bath with anti-itch shampoo which will help relieve
him. If it simply won't get better, you might want to think about keeping
the dog in a seperate house to calm his rash down while you try to find
the cause, and how to prevent it. Good luck!

My dog's rash was minor in the beginning but it seems ever since I got the gerbils, the rash has become more severe. I am just wondering...is it possible for a dog to be allergic to gerbils? Is there a "germ" on gerbils (that the gerbil's dont react to) that might affect my dog? Please help,Jason :( |
