Unless you take the pictures yourself and own the animals, ask
permission first. It's called respecting copyrights. And on some
sights, others have had to get permission to show the pictures
that are there (like Julian) for example; and so.
Never use another's art unless it is specifically stated that the stuff
is 'copyright free' and/or 'ok to use' [there is a whole bunch of stuff
called 'clipart' that is used in graphical arts, and that stuff is copyright
free...but not everything is!]

p.s. I do produce handouts for hamster care, and I have either
taken the pictures myself of my animals or done the other artwork
myself [the infamous set of outlines that show how big a full grown
hamster will get compared to the cute little baby in the tank that all
petstores I supply have, compliments of me] And those are copyrighted
with my permission for the store to copy them for handout to customers
as needed [although I usually make the copies and provide them]
