My dog had ringworm for a while. The hair comes off and the skin underneath
it turned a black color. It's treated with some type of medicated
oil/lotion. Depending on the color of your gerbil, can you see any dark
spots where this bald spot is?
Maybe your gerbil is just bored and started a bad habit of pulling hairs out
of it's tail, or a cagemate is pulling them out for him. Do you have pups?
Pups sometimes chew tails when they are teething and leave bald spots on the
parents tails. Or it could have gotten stuck in some kind of cage toy?
