OT: Question about replies

Hi

This is not about gerbils, but about this list.

When I read a post and want to reply, is it then necessary to change the recipient of 
the post? If I hit 'Reply' it looks like it only goes back to the person that asked 
the question, not to the list. Is this the case or can it be changed?
