My guess is that it would be stressful and not fun if they took a liking
to each other and that they would relentlessly attack / gnaw the spearator
and quick possibly unite.  I've seen a female and male gnaw through think
plastic in a matter of hours to get to each other.

I don't have first hand experience, but have heard elderly singles
sometimes prefer it that way (?), but Petey most definately could use a
friend.
