Hi list- If anyone still keeps track of pups, we had a surprise litter of 5 here yesterday. The parents are Payn and Panic, two gerbs I took from a Petco store at no charge because they were badly injured and nothing was being done by the store. They are all healed now (obviously!) and Payn is being a very good mother. My last experience with baby gerbils was somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 years ago, so this is pretty exciting. There appear to be 4 with dark skin and eyes, and one that is all pink with light eyes. The parents are predominantly black, but I suspect at least one of them has a small amount of spotting. I will be separating the parents before the birth of the next litter and letting the boys go with dad. I'll probably keep the babies unless I find a home for them that I'm extremely comfortable with.
