>A good way to get tanks is to look on trash day. People throw them out
often.
>You can also look in garage sales.

beware on both of these.

If someone is throwing the tank out, it may be that something
evil grew in it or some such...and/or it's broken and a leaker.
If recycling a tank from unknown history, you will need to soak
it in bleach water, I'm talking a half gallon to ten gallons of water.
Be especially suspicious if the silicone is stained blue or green.

Try filling the tank outside on the driveway to see if it leaks first.

I would strongly suggest filling with the bleach water solution
outside (making sure no pets can get at it to drink) and leaving
it overnight.

BTDT. I have both recycled old tanks AND threw out tanks.
Anything I threw out I took a hammer to *because* there was
an issue like a disease in the silicone or crevices that I could
not seem to eradicate.

Rummage sales are a mixed bag. Either they just don't want
to see it again...or they think it should be worth what they paid
for it at the UPSCALE shop (not the discount place we all
usually shop at). Again, it probably has old fish scum in it and
will need to be bleached out good first. And they usually want
to sell it as a 'set' with all the related tank setup stuff.

Luck.
