i have 2 little siblings and i must say having tails accidently pulled off
was a common thing for us until they kids grew up and learned better.... the
gerbils will be fine.... our solution was just to put a bit of watered down
neosporin on the tail and clean the cage out every few days.... one of the
first gerbils we had (Frisky) lived almost 4 and a half years.... 3 of those
years with only half a tail!
