I know that Tylenol is toxic to dogs and cats - their liver cannot
break it down and that is why they usually get aspirin instead (or
else a narcotic like codeine) for pain control. I'd try cold
compresses - not ice, but just some cold washcloths. I have used
these on small kittens before for injuries (like post dog bite and
stitches). But I definitely would stay away from over the counter
preparations until you get the ok frm the vet. When my chinchilla had
his leg amputated, he got anti-inflammatories for a couple days, but
the vet said they heal quickly (chins that is) and usually do not
require much pain control).
